Getting The Most From Your Video Tune Lesson mp4 & wmv Files (Page 1) Go to Page 2

Using Your Video Files With Different Players: With each Video Tune Lesson, there is a single video file for the entire video tune lesson, along with several smaller video files--1 each for the individual phrases and parts in the tune.

I provide these individual files so you can put all of them in a single directory and loop (repeat) the individual parts and phrases on whatever video player you're using, and depending on which player you have, you also can control the video playback speed.  Here's how this works:

With Windows Media Player: Make sure you have a recent version.  I'm using Version 11.

  • Looping The Videos:  Make sure Windows Media Player is your default player for wmv files.  To check, pull down the "Tools" menu and select "Options."  If you don't see the "Tools" menu, hit ctrl/m.
    • Click on the "File Types" tab and make sure the box next to "Windows Media Video file (wmv)" is checked.  Click OK.
    • Open any other player you have that might have been set as your default player and disable it as your default player
    • Open the directory where you have your Video Tune Lesson wmv files and click one of the phrase files to start Windows Media Player or open the player first and then double click one of the phrase files.   Either way, the phrase will start to play.
    • Now click on the repeat button at the bottom of the player, between the shuffle button and the stop button.
    • All the files will now loop.  No need to reactivate the loop feature when you select a new file.
    • To start playing and looping the next phrase file, just double click on it.

  • Controlling Playback Speed:  Pull down the "View" menu and select "Enhancements."  Highlite "Play Speed Settings" and click on it.  A window will open near the bottom of the player displaying a horizontal control bar.
    • You can move the button on the bar down to 0.5 (half normal speed) on up to 2.0 (double normal speed)
    • The sound quality is excellent at very slow playback and the video remains nice and clear.  It's a fantastic learning tool.
